I generally try to fit one year into each album I create. I am a double page scrapper...100%. But each album starts, of course, with a one pager. So I usually fill that space with a current professional photo of my two boys. I've been lucky because ever since my youngest was born he and his brother have been at the same school. And when they did school photos they also did sibling photos. This fall they will attend different schools for the first time. So I don't know what I'll do for next year's album. :) But for this year, at least, I still have that school photo of the two of them together.
I loved the brown background paper with the glitter stars in the corner. It seemed a perfect fit for the photo I was using. Once I chose that, the rest of the layout just started falling into place.
I am typically a fairly minimalist in my scrapbooking. But I decided to try a cluster of embellishments on this layout and ended up loving it! I repeated the star theme and then added some brads, gems, ribbon, etc.
There was no story per se to go with this photo, so I decided to play on the star theme. I have always thought of my boys as MY little lights. And I do all I can to let them shine everywhere they go. So the lyrics of this simple song tug at my heartstrings. I'm glad I found a way to tie it into a layout.
Once again I am entering this over at Practical Scrappers for this weeks challenge to use at least 7 items. I've got that and then some! :)
1. cardstock
2. patterned paper
3. always stamp
4. ink
5. star punch
6. brads
7. gems
8. pen
9. ribbon
10. metal word
11. paper clip
