Lately I have been interested in starting a book about me. My ideas began percolating while reading Jen Mohler's blog about her 100 life changing moments project. Then while listening to Paperclipping Roundtable I heard about the book Stories in Hand by Jessica Sprague. It seemed like serendipity. So I bought the book. And all of a sudden I wanted to know more about my history. I started asking questions, digging into old pictures and reflecting on what has made me who I am today. So my album all about me began.
I knew that some of the pages in this album may not have many pictures so I decided it would be easier to make it 8.5x11. I was surprised how difficult it is to find albums that size. And the ones that are out there are very boring. boo. But it is what it is. I also decided to make all my layouts with kraft paper. I thought it would coordinate well with the many pictures over the last several decades.
I got my layout inspiration from Cathy Zielski's book Clean & Simple The Sequal. This book is totally me!
With two boys I don't often get to scrap with pink. So I took the opportunity this time to use not only pink, but glitter paper! Love it!
I made the photo 5x5, printed it in black and white and used a corner rounder on both the photo and the mat.
I love the bold colorful pattern on the mat, also with glitter. Yay!
I have been taking notes as I talk with family members about my history. Even if I don't scrap every story at least I have them recorded.
Telling my story has been the most fun, and the most emotional, time I've had scrapping in a long time. I have several more layouts to share with you and many more to make. Looking forward to mixing up scrapping my boys with scrapping me!
