Homework Help

And no it's not cheating!  :)  But first some news!  I've started a facebook page so that you can be alerted of new posts through your facebook feed!  So click on the button on the right and like us on facebook!

Ok back to the post...yes I need help with some homework...and no...once again...it's not cheating!  :)

Some of you may have noticed that I've fallen a little behind posting my progress on my One Little Word.  As in, nothing for May or June!  Well that's cause I actually haven't done the work, hence no post.  I did however spend some time on the June assignment last week and hope to post it sometime soon.

But even though I'm behind I'm not worrying about it.  I just jumped right in with July's assignment.  And while I love it!  I SOOOOOOO need help!

The assignment this month is to create a playlist of about 9 songs that somehow represent your word.  And if you haven't seen my previous posts about One Little Word my word for 2011 is present.

My issue is this...I really only listen to my iPod.  It has all the kid music on it and lots of Glee.  And I love it!  But I'm not getting inspired by any of my current playlists.  None of them speak, or sing, my word to me.

I want songs that talk about living in the moment, and enjoying life.  However, I don't want songs that refer to dying (which so many of them seem to do).  I want mostly upbeat with a ballad or two thrown in.  But since I don't really listen to the radio *gasp* I don't know much about what is out there.

I did recently hear, via a video by Stacy Julian, a song called Technicolor by Tim Myers.  Oh I so love it!  And I put it as number 1 on my playlist.  So now I have...1 song...out of 9...HELP!

This is where you, my bloggy friends, come in.  I need suggestions of excellent songs to expand my musical horizons!  Ones that speak to my word, PRESENT.  Leave me lots of lovely comments with your amazing suggestions!  If I choose a song based on your suggestion I'll even throw in a happy little gift of scrappy mail (aka blog candy).

And I promise to post what I've done with these songs at the end of the month.  Sound like a deal?

Thanks in advance for all the suggestions!  :)

  1. How about "Do Everything" By Steven Curtis Chapman? I'm not sure if you're into the Christian genre, but this song is fun and definitely covers us Moms. Here the's 1st verse and chorus:

You're picking up toys on the living room floor
    For the 15th time today
Matching up socks, sweeping up lost
    Cheerios that got away
You put a baby on your hip and color on your lips
    Head out the door
While I may not know you I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes does it matter at all
Well let me remind you it all matters just as long as you

    (Chorus)
Do everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
Cause He made you to do
Every little thing that you do to bring a smile to His face
And tell the story of grace
With every move that you make
And every little thing you do

Good luck with your playlist! :) ~Jen http://happyplaceforjen.blogspot.com/

  4. Check out Carrie Newcomer. As luck would have it, I have several of her CD's. Ballad style. Great voice. Contemporary lyrics. About life.
