Ok so that's a cheesy post title, but my husband will get a kick out of it. :) I was running out of pages to post on here and starting to feel like I needed to get creating. Which is probably still true, but last night I realized that I have 4 albums full of spreads that I've never blogged about. Just because I've been looking at them for years doesn't mean that you have! So I spent some time photographing several of my favorites. This one is definitely one of my favorite pages...ever!
Taking the pictures on this spread was NOT one of my favorite experiences...ever! I was taking a photography class and learning all about how to set up your own photo shoot. It was early November and I thought that it would be a GREAT idea to take photos of my boys for our Christmas cards. They were 20 months and 3 at the time. See my youngest with the oh so sweet smile? Yeah, he is a STINKER! The entire time he was rolling around on the floor making faces and pretty much doing the opposite of everything I asked. I took pictures for about a total of 2-3 hours through out the day whenever I thought they would sit still. I got a handful of good pics, and a few totally awesome ones. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words, and sometimes it doesn't even begin to tell the whole story!
While the photos are color, the majority of the shot is black. Which allowed for me to put lots of color on the page. I used blue cardstock that matched their jeans for the background. I then got a square punch and punched A LOT of squares in many different colors. I used the colored squares to create a mosaic feel. The mixture of the large and small squares gives a unique take on the traditional grid design.
I set the strip of pictures off center for a bit of variety. The photos were 4x4 squares. I used a 4x6 on the left side by the journaling. Then I used a 4x8 of my favorite photo on the far right.
In my memory I recall how utterly frustrated I was that day. My idyllic vision of photographing my children was so far from reality. Yet looking back on that day all I can do is smile. I find joy in these photos and in the layout I created to showcase them. I may have a couple of stinkers, but they sure are stinkingly cute!
