Family Camp Fun
Our church has a week long summer camp for families. Both my husband and I have very fond memories of going to Reunion as kids. When we had our own children we revived the tradition.
My inspiration came from this cute layout I found online. Wish I knew where. :( Gonna have to start being more careful about documenting my inspiration. But here it is anyway. :)
Here is my sketch based on this layout. I knew I wanted a two page spread and needed more vertical photos. By sketching it out I could determine what size photos would work best to fit 10 on the page.
I wanted to use white cardstock for the background because it lets the colors of the photos shine. That allowed me to use a busy pattern for the title. I loved the bright playful colors in this paper.
Because the title referred to the number 10, and there were 10 pictures I also wanted my journaling to focus on 10 things we love at Reunion. So I wanted numbers on the photos to correspond with the numbers in the journaling. I cut the numbers with my Cricut out of vellum. When I layered the vellum on the photos they didn't really show up. So I took my trusty Sharpie and edged the numbers in black.
I wanted my journaling to span both pages. I created a text box in Word that was the width of the entire page (no margins). I then typed in my journaling and centered it in the text box. Then I looked at what words fell at the 8 in mark. Then I spaced the words a bit over so that there was space for a cut down the journaling block.
I haven't used buttons on very many pages, but have started to be really drawn to them. I thought they would make a nice accent. And these bright colors went perfectly! And guess how many there are in the yellow strip? Yep...10!
For a bit of an extra touch I decided to layer a smaller button inside the lip of a larger button. It turned out so well.
The colors and pictures on this page make me so happy. It really exemplifies all the things we love about Reunion. I can hardly wait to head back. June can't come soon enough for us!
