Every October our congregation has a fall retreat. We love going, and I have lots of pictures from the event, but this series won my heart and therefore my scrapping time. I've been doing a lot of blog hopping (love Stacy Julian), and podcast listening (Paper Clipping Roundtable rocks!) lately. One thing I keep hearing is that scrappers need to let go of guilt about scrapping every photo and just to scrap what inspires us. So that is what I did here.
I was so excited when I captured this moment in my camera. It needed very little editing and caught such a fun feeling. There were a few spare legs of others caught in a few of the photos that I photoshopped out using the clone stamp tool. You can't even tell they were ever there which is awesome!
As you can see I used this layout as a pretty literal lift. But I loved the colors and the layout. You can see the original in Ekskou's Gallery on scrapbook.com.
I used my Cricut and SCAL all over this page. I cut the scalloped border, the title, the layered tag and the flowers and leaves. I had lots of fun layering papers and colors to bring out the fall theme. My new passion is to find ways to incorporate 3D flowers onto my boy pages. :) I felt like putting a few fall flowers in amidst the leaves was a perfect way to insert some of my own girly, on a page that is still all boy.
I used my standard procedure for printing onto a cutout. To see how to do that check out this post. I added a couple of gems to sparkle it up as well. It is hard to see, but I also popped up the journaling cutout with some foam dots.
Instead of the flowers used on the layout inspiration I chose to layer leaves with just a few flowers tossed in. I used a few acrylic dots for the centers of my flowers. I liked the subtlety of that. I also used several foam dots to give the leaves some depth. And I always ink the edges to give my cutouts some dimension. It's hard to see in these photos, but much more obvious when seen in person.
This layout just makes me happy. Do I mind that I don't have every photo from the event? Not really. I can just post a few other favorites here to give homage to the rest of the event. And save my scrapbooking energy for honoring the photos I really love!
