July 9th

Today we were to look for shapes in our world.  As a 1st grade teacher I have done many lesson with my students about looking for shapes.  So I felt ready to take on the assignment.  Except that the shapes had to represent summer.  My son and I are both sick right now so I needed to stay around the house and wasn't sure I would find much else that I haven't already photographed.  But boy was I wrong!  :)

Leave Your Mark - When we are well :) we love to play outside.  My boys can often be found leaving their mark on our world with chalk.  I loved that this angle brought in the blue skies (which have been rare lately).

I loved how this shot caught the texture of the sidewalk as well.

Kickin Shapes - I loved the overall round shape of the ball with the many squares inside.  When we aren't chalkin up the sidewalk we are playing kickball in the yard.

Window on the World - This was my first shot of the day.  I loved the rectangular shape of the window with the world peeking through.

Roundly Ripe - Our first red tomato, with an obvious round shape

Raise the Roof - The boys LOVE to play on the neighbor's play set (I've got to get one of these!).  I loved the lines on the roof set against the softness of the clouds.

Shapely Gate - This gate is often seen swinging wide as the boys run between neighbor yards.  I loved the color and texture of the wood.

Crayola Circles - When it is raining outside, as it has been A LOT lately, we are usually inside coloring. For this shot I was struck by the circles within the larger circle.

Still loving this class!

  1. I totally LOVE the first shot of the chalk! At first look I thought it was big pillows on the sand at a beach!!! Very cool!

  2. Thanks! I love it too! I'm thinking it would be good to frame in a kids room, or the play room. :) I'm having a ton of fun with this class.
