Ever notice how when you get a new car all of a sudden you see them everywhere? Or the moment you find out you are pregnant you start seeing pregnant women everywhere you turn? I'm having one of those experiences with my All About Me album.
It all started at Jen Mohler's blog as I read about her plan to make an album of her 100 life changing moments. I was so intrigued by this idea.
Then while listening to Paperclipping Roundtable Podcast #44 I heard about this book by Jessica Sprague called Stories in Hand. It is a book that helps spark your own memories of your life as well as remember stories that have been told to you by your ancestors. The book is filled with prompts to help you tell your story. Since I knew
I was considering a project like this I had to have this book. I immediately searched the web for it and downloaded it that day (it's also available in hardback form).
With just these two resources I began the journey. I spent the holidays talking with family members about the stories of my grandparents and taking notes. Learning all kinds of things I didn't know about my history. And just like that I was hooked. And then...
Big Picture Classes offered a class by Ali Edwards called Yesterday and Today. A class meant to help you gain perspective by looking at your past as you tell stories about today. I couldn't afford to take this one, but was totally inspired by the idea.
And just last week Ella released an new eBook called "How to Scrapbook you Personal Heritage." And for only $5.99 how could I pass that up?!?
Then the current Scrapbooks Etc (Apr 2011) comes in the mail. As I'm flipping through I discover an 8 page story on scrapping all about yourself.
And then Monday morning I open my laptop and see that Write.Click.Scrapbook is doing a whole week on scrapbooking yourself.
I don't know if I'm noticing all of these All About Me resources because I'm working on an All About me album or if I got the idea for the album because it is a current trend. Either way I'm so excited to have so many resources for continuing my project. Inspiration here I come! :)
