My Dad

Some of you may remember that my dad had a stroke on December 1st.  He came home in Feb...things did not go well.  After 2 weeks we knew he needed more help than we could give.  So we took him to a skilled rehab floor in a nursing home.  Last Tuesday he came home again.  I decided that I wanted to make a page documenting our journey so far.

For this layout I scraplifted myself.  I adapted the design used in this layout here.  This time I made each photo/journal block in PSE and then printed them out.  I am so loving hybrid pages right now!

I planned to have the colors grow from cooler to warmer as the journaling moved through time.  I had originally intended for the turquoise to go first but didn't like the blue photo on the turquoise paper.  So I switched the blue and green.

I wanted a white journal block but I didn't want to completely cover the paper.  I made the white shape 50% opacity before typing my journaling.  That allowed the paper to show through.

I felt like the page should have a nice large title and these glitter chipboard letters were just perfect.  They were almost too big.  I had to stack the a on top of the d's.

All the digi papers, tape, and stitching are from Crystal Wilkerson's spring/summer collection.  Can you tell I love her stuff?

I loved the cute divider this tape and stitching made between the photo and the journal block.  Cute!

I wish I could go back and write smaller so that the word stroke wouldn't be below the memo.  Oh well, not going back to redo it.

The last 5 months have been hard for my family.  And things with Dad are still really difficult.  But it can be so easy to only see what you wish he could do and forget about how far he has come.  This page helps me remember where we have been.

Have you ever documented an illness or difficult time in your life?  If you are willing to share we'd love to see.
